Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi is a large primary school with about 360 students, near the centre of Cardigan, in the south of Ceredigion on the border with Pembrokeshire.
There is an abundance of wildlife habitat in the area, with the SSSI River Teifi running to the south of the town, a short cycle ride from the Teifi Marshes and the Welsh Wildlife Centre. The Ceredigion Coast Path runs to the west, and Netpool Park to the south-west of the town is home to rare waxcap fungi and other species.
There are 23 students directly involved in the workshops, with another 23 students from a different class mirroring the activities, with slight variations.
In the summer of 2025, the school took part in Ceredigion Nature Partnership’s Grassland ID workshops, working with West Wales Biodiversity Information Centre.
